This position is responsible for audit projects for a fast growing, publicly-traded real estate investment trust (REIT). The REIT and related joint ventures have grown from a store count of 246 at IPO in April 2015 to more than 800 today. The REIT and subsidiaries are staffed by dynamic, hard-working teams of accomplished professionals. Our office culture is positive and professional, yet low-key. Our team pursues excellence and success on a daily basis. The audit team supports the Corporate Office in Denver, the corporate brand field offices as well as 10 Participating Regional Operators (PROs) located across the United States and Puerto Rico.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with all phases of the Sarbanes -Oxley testing process including walkthroughs, test of control design and effectiveness, and deficiency management for process level and IT general controls.
  • Work collaboratively with Control Owners and External Auditors on the Sarbanes-Oxley controls testing plan
  • Assist in the performance of business process scoping, control rationalization, risk prioritization, and enterprise risk management
  • Assist with the preparation of audit reports that summarize audit findings, identify areas of strength and deficiencies, and make recommendations for corrective actions, as necessary, to support the company’s goals and objectives while maintaining auditor independence
  • Perform due diligence reviews for proposed acquisitions including audit of revenue, utilities, and other expenses
  • Assist the Internal Audit Director with tracking and monitoring key department reporting metrics including time and resource management

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Certification, or committed study for, a CPA or CIA, or CISA license is preferred
  • Up-to-date knowledge of auditing best practices and trends
  • Experience with Sarbanes-Oxley financial and information technology audit programs and practices, preferred
  • Working knowledge of various financial reporting systems and audit software packages is a plus
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, often on multiple projects simultaneously across different functional groups with minimal day-to-day guidance
  • Ability to interact and collaborate with various business leaders throughout the company, and with the PRO accounting and operations teams

SALARY: 55,000 -70,000 annual salary range
