Purpose:

We are seeking a Facilities Coordinator (FC) to assist in the handling of our facilities’ physical functionality (repairs and maintenance), asset preservation and capital improvement planning, and help create a safe and efficient work environment that improves business performance. The ideal candidate for the role of Facilities Coordinator should possess good communication skills, excellent organizational skills, broad knowledge of business functions, and project management experience. The FC will support the day-to-day facility operations, ensure efficient operation of facilities, mitigate risk and facility deficiencies, and ensure that facilities meet the needs of customers and staff. 

This position will oversee locations on the west coast to include but are not limited to California, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Colorado, and possibly others.

Reports To: Director of Facilities

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for managing our various vendors and contractors that render property services in the mid-western and western regions of the country.
  • Partner with operations to ensure facilities are safe, secure, and functional
  • Oversee capital improvement projects at multiple locations simultaneously.
  • Develop and implement facility support systems designed for ease of use to a large, geographically dispersed organization.
  • Lead communications to the operations team for facility management support issues and updates.
  • Partner with the Director of Facilities to seek bids for construction projects planned throughout the year.
  • Lead projects related to facilities and facilities support group.

Collaboration: The Facilities Coordinator will play an integral part of our organization and will be required to partner with the facilities and operations teams to discuss needs and strategy. It will take a close partnership and meaningful collaboration to maximize the impact these programs will have on our people and business.  

Communication Skills: The Facilities Coordinator should be able to read, write and communicate clearly and concisely through various channels including in-person, email, web conference, and phone to maximize transparency and clarity while partnering with a geographically diverse workforce.

Innovation/Adaptability: Our business is constantly evolving and it is important that our leaders can pivot and adapt as the environment demands. Our Facilities Coordinator will need to be able to adjust the organization’s strategy in facilities support for various factors in our industry, current trends in the marketplace and to have strategic vision for adapting our approach based on new technologies and factors that impact our industry.

Service-minded Approach: This is the focus of this role: to support our growing team! With our exponential growth our team needs to feel supported and have the tools necessary to execute their jobs. This job’s main function is to facilitate that execution through a service-first minded approach while providing top-level support, platforms, vendors, and services that allow our team to focus on the most important aspects of our business: renting units!

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. This job operates in a professional office environment.  This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.  The employee frequently is required to sit, stand and walk.  This position may be required to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods of time. 

Education and Experience:

  • Ability to partner with the leaders to deliver solutions that meet business needs through understanding the business, the broader operating context, and the needs of our teams to deliver an outstanding storage experience to our customers.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Construction or Business Management and/or certifications is preferred but experience is more important.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in Facilities Management or Operations Support or other related jobs supporting large organizational facilities management.
  • Experience in large multi-unit, geographically dispersed organizations.

Travel:

The Facilities Coordinator will travel approximately 30% of their time to various parts of the country in support of the Operations team.

FLSA Status: Exempt

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

  • Works in an indoor office.

  • Occasional lifting of supplies and materials from time to time.
  • Positions in this class typically include extended sedentary positions, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, movement and repetitive motions.
