National Storage Affiliates is a self-administered, self-managed real estate investment trust, dedicated to the ownership, operation, and acquisition of self-storage facilities. Through ongoing contributions from its Participating Regional Operations (“PROS”), third party acquisitions and joint venture partnerships, as of December 31, 2021, NSA currently holds ownership interests in, and operates 1,050 self-storage properties located in 42 states + Puerto Rico with approximately 67.8 million rentable square feet. NSA is one of the largest owners and operators of self-storage facilities among public and private companies in the U.S.

Reports to: Senior Accountant

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Heavy involvement in property tax payment-scheduling and accruals
  • Assist with preparation and evaluation of budgets and forecasts for property taxes
  • Assist in preparing documentation related to acquisition transactions
  • Prepare annual business personal property filings
  • Navigate state, city and municipal government requirements to obtain business licenses (duty may be temporary)
  • Complete monthly, quarterly, and annual sales & use tax filings
  • Perform various general ledger accounting tasks
    • Develop, document and post journal entries
    • Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations
  • Support analysis of financial statement accounts
  • Assist Senior Accountants in preparing recurring and ad hoc management reports
  • Support policies, procedures and internal controls which are in place to protect company assets and ensure financial statement accuracy
  • Other projects to support management, including income tax accruals and filings

Qualifications

  • Four-year degree in accounting
  • Zero to three years accounting experience
  • General-ledger accounting skills preferred
  • Experience with tax filings – e.g. sales tax, real estate tax, personal property tax, income tax
  • Strong communication skills are mandatory
  • Experience in real-estate or multi-unit-businesses is a plus
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departmental functions

Travel: Limited travel determined by needs of business

Compensation range: $52,500 – $67,500 annual salary range

FLSA Status: Exempt

Location: Greenwood Village, CO
