National Storage Affiliates Trust is a real estate investment trust headquartered in Greenwood Village, Colorado, focused on the ownership, operation and acquisition of self storage properties located within the top 100 metropolitan statistical areas throughout the United States. The Operations Support Manager will be responsible for leading and providing operations support to our stores and field management team in various areas of the business. This individual will have experience in designing, supporting, and refining processes, procedures, and platforms used by our operations team (900+ employees and approx. 500 locations) to help us continue to scale for growth. We are looking for an agile individual with experience supporting large organizations, intimate knowledge of the operations world and ability to take our support department to the next level as we plan for our future!

Reports To: SVP Operations

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing our various vendors that supply services and products for the operations of our stores.
  • Lead the onboarding of new stores we acquire coordinating all appropriate vendors, services and platform initiation and integration.
  • Partner with other departments (marketing, accounting, HR, legal, IT) on projects that span working groups to be the Ops lead on execution.
  • Develop and implement support systems designed for ease of use to a large, geographically dispersed organization.
  • Lead communications to the team on operational support issues and updates.
  • Coordinate with stores/team on claims processing as needed, customer service issues or items related to store operations.
  • Lead projects related to operations and operations support group.

Collaboration: The Operations Support Manager will play an integral part of our organization and will be required to partner with various stakeholders in support of the business needs and strategy. It will take a close partnership and meaningful collaboration to maximize the impact these programs will have on our people and business.

Communication Skills: The Operations Support Manager should be able to read, write and communicate clearly and concisely through various channels including in-person, email, web conference, and phone to maximize transparency and clarity while partnering with a geographically diverse workforce.

Innovation/Adaptability: Our business is constantly evolving and it’s important that our leaders can pivot and adapt as the environment demands. Our Operations Support Manager will need to be able to adjust the organization’s strategy in operations support for various factors in our industry, current trends in the marketplace and to have strategic vision for adapting our approach based on new technologies and factors that impact our industry.

Service-minded Approach: This is the focus of this role: to support our growing team! With our exponential growth our team needs to feel supported and have the tools necessary to execute their jobs. This job’s main function is to facilitate that execution through a service-first minded approach while providing top-level support, platforms, vendors, and services that allow our team to focus on the most important aspects of our business: renting units!

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit, stand, and walk. This position may be required to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods of time.

Education and Experience

  • Ability to partner with the leaders to deliver solutions that meet business needs through understanding the business, the broader operating context, and the needs of our teams to deliver an outstanding storage experience to our customers.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Business or other related field is preferred but operational experience and past experience are more important.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in Operations, Operations Support or other related job supporting large organizations.
  • Experience in business and change management is preferred.

Travel: Manager, Operations Support will travel approximately 10% of their time to various parts of the country in support of the Operations team.

Compensation Range: $60,000-$70,000

FLSA Status: Exempt

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the company.
